Day One

Evan and I have made it to our first destination! After a stressful pre-departure evening, the little red sled was successfully loaded onto the truck and tucked safely away for the ride. Incase you are wondering how to put a pickup truck into a moving truck, it requires a brother who builds boats and has access to a loading dock. How we will unload the truck on the east coast remains a mystery.

Packing was quite the task this morning as the little red sled had to be completely secured in the moving van. After saying good bye to the parents, we were on the road! We made it all the way to Costco in Issaquah for some last minute supplies before seriously taking to the road. Driving the arc was and is going to be quite the experience. I'm hoping to add this new found beneficial skill to my resume incase I find my calling in the large vehicle moving field. The first lesson we have learned so far is to get gas when down to a 1/4 tank. After a miscalculation, we almost coasted into the gas station after thinking the next one was just around the corner.

We arrived at our parents' long time friends', Tom and Barb Richardson's posh lake front house in Spokane around 8:30pm. We promptly made ourselves at home and chatted with them for awhile. It's now bed time and we are hitting the road for Rapid City tomorrow morning around 10am. Passing through Spokane and Coeur d'Alene marks the last stretch of familiar highway before the unknown states and the point of no return are upon us!
